Being taught in Japanese made me improve quickly.

Spenser from Spring 2024

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

I liked going cherry blossom viewing with my class. It was very interesting to play Japanese style games and it was good opportunity to bond as a class, I felt.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

Being taught in Japanese made me improve quickly.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

I'm interested im translating books, so I felt the reading exercises were particularly useful.

Any comments or tips for prospective/new KCP students?

KCP is very intensive, but managable so long as it's your main focus. You will be amazed by how much you will learn and what you are capable of accomplishing.

Testimonials

I found tests to be a good indicator of where I was at over homework. The homework only covered one topic usually, but tests would cover a wider variety of them mixed around. I’ve never studied Japanese from a textbook in this style, so the textbooks have been extremely helpful in visualizing Japanese grammar points.
